Kindred is a way of life. It’s not something you “go to,” it’s something you are a part of. We believe that God is on the move in Montrose, in the greater Houston area, and beyond. We want to join in. It’s that simple!

  • Kinnon Falk (He/Him)

    Deacon of Kindred Ministries

Kinnon was part of the lay leadership that formed +KINDRED as a restart congregation. In 2022, he transitioned from Leadership Table chair to staff. He is also the director of Kindred Kitchen, our culinary training program for vulnerably-housed youth that operates in partnership with Grace Place. He enjoys local adventures with his family, eating at Houston's great restaurants, cooking for crowds, and volunteering with local organizations. He has master's degrees in divinity and ethics from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. He has worked in the local nonprofit sector for over a decade, focussing on homeless services and fundraising.

  • Sara Marlatt (She/Her)

    Leadership Table Chair

Sara is executive assistant to Bishop Andy Doyle at the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. She likes to camp, cross stitch, and go on long walks with her old Boston terrier, Lucky. She loves the beautiful bunch of weirdos that make up the +KINDRED family.

  • Jeffrey Wimp (He/Him)

    Leadership Table Treasurer

Jeffrey was a member of Grace, Kindred’s legacy congregation. He has worked as a music director and worship leader at other local congregations. He enjoys cooking, knitting, helping out around Kindred, and spending time with his Siberian Husky, Leo.

  • Ashwin Mathews (He/Him)

Ashwin is a recent grad from the University of Houston and works as a NASA contractor supporting operations on the ISS. He also serves on the Grace Place board as the +KINDRED liaison. Ashwin loves trivia, volunteering, and his +KINDRED family!

  • Beth Hartfiel (She/Her)

Beth is a deacon who serves as the Event Logistics Coordinator for the ELCA National Youth Gathering. She loves the flexibility and creativity of her +KINDRED family.

  • Lucas Fraley (He/Him)

Lucas is a high school math teacher for YES Prep Public Schools. He loves reading, hanging out with his kitties, Phoebe and Maverick, and trying to keep an ever-increasing array of houseplants alive. He’s thankful to +KINDRED for loving him because of his queerness and transness, not despite it.

  • Jim

    Jim Culley

Jim Culley is recently retired and living in Belton, Texas. He has a Masters in petroleum geology from Imperial College, University of London, worked in the oil and gas industry for many years, and later in the manufacturing industry. He enjoys playing guitar, learning Spanish, the outdoors, and spending time with his kitty. Mostly, he loves the friendships he's developed at Kindred Church, and spending time with each of them in the presence of our God.

  • Terry Thomas

Terry has lived in and around the Montrose since the 90s. He’s seen how our neighborhood has changed since then (for better or worse). He was a regular at Grace, Kindred’s predecessor congregation. Terry knows just about everyone in the neighborhood and can tell you tons of stories if you get him going. He enjoys rooting for the Astros and hanging out in his brand new apartment!
